Chapter 1
Introduction
There is an important issue that affects every single one of us, you may not know it existed before. No one is sure of how it all started, some say religion and tradition started it, some say law started it and some just think that way. Our job here is to educate you on gender inequality, try to raise awareness and collect your point of view.
You may say, do you have any proof that gender inequality exists? My answer is, yes. There were some cases in our city, Hong Kong, when gender inequality happened. For an example, a teacher was forced to wear a dress to school, then sued the school for her rights. Is this fair?
Gender inequality is a world-wide issue and can be viewed by a global perspective. Gender inequality happens around the world, no matter what nation or time period.
Gender inequality is women having less opportunities than men. Like when men get promoted instead of women in a workplace, or when boys get education instead of girls. Not only girls are affected by gender inequality, but the society is too. Gender inequality stops economic, investment and population development. Without gender inequality, better choices might be made and our world will develop faster in a positive way.
